The City of Valley Mills is located in beautiful Bosque County on State Highway 6, approximately 25 miles northwest of Waco.  The form of government is a General Rule City and  consists of a Mayor and 5 council members.  Valley Mills was first organized in the area now known as FM 1637 on the north side of the Bosque River.  After a tornado blew the entire town away, it was moved to its present day location on State Highway 6.  State Highway 6, FM 317 and FM 56 are the major thorough fares thru the City.  The City of Valley Mills was Chartered on March 20, 1896.

Valley Mills has a Volunteer Fire Department and a full-time Police Department.

The new tornado sirens will be tested monthly.  they will be set off the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. , weather permitting.  In case of stormy weather they will not be set off until the following month.

If you hear the tornado sirens sound during inclimate weather it means a tornado is approaching and you should immediatley take cover.
